El Lago flour tortillas are made with flour and water and shortening with a little baking powder and a lot of care. The dough is rolled and kneaded and made into balls. Each ball is pressed into a tortilla and baked just enough to remove the water from the equation. Then the tortillas are cooled before packaging. The El Lago tortilla is ready to reheat at home for many uses. The flour tortillas puff up when heated to make the perfect tortilla to accompany your meal.
The El Lago probiotic tortilla is prepared in a similar way as our flour tortillas. We use healthy canola oil instead of shortening and add a specially formulated probiotic that gives you the same benefit as a cup of yogurt. The tortillas are baked and cooled before packaging and should be refrigerated after opening. As with our flour tortillas there is no need to reheat these tortillas but heating does bring out the best in all tortillas.
El Lago corn tortillas start out as 100% Non GMO real corn. The corn is soaked with lime overnight and then stone ground into masa. The masa is cut into tortillas, baked and cooled.
